Welcome to Lawley Primary School

I am very proud to be the Headteacher here, supported by a highly skilled and dedicated team of teachers and support staff. The school is a two form entry primary with 420 pupils at the moment.

The whole school community at Lawley have high expectations for our children, and would like them to leave school as confident, polite and independent young people, with the appropriate skills, values and learning to become successful in whatever their future will be. We aspire to instil in all our children a desire to never stop learning and to have the courage to succeed in whatever they do, across all areas of school life and beyond.

Our school is dedicated to providing the best possible education in a stimulating and safe environment. Our curriculum vision has the development of English, Maths, Science and Computing at its CORE, alongside developing the attributes for children to be good learners, as these are the essential life skills for every child to be able to access future learning. Our children learn best through practical 'hands on' learning opportunities. We allow them to build their knowledge and understanding through topics that will capture their interest and stimulate their imagination. Core subjects such as English and Maths are taught discretely but then applied and practiced across the whole curriculum.

Our BROADER curriculum is skills based and FOUNDATION SUBJECTS, History, Geography, Art and Design, Design and Technology, Languages, Music and Physical Education and PSHE are taught thorough topics and themes of study. We value a rigorous cross-curricular approach to learning and the curriculum is planned systematically through curriculum maps for each year group thereby ensuring the whole range of the New National Curriculum 2014 is delivered appropriately. The maps in both Key Stage 1 and 2 are designed to make sure that curriculum content is based on children’s interests and enhancing cross curricular links.

At Lawley Primary School we agree with the Department for Education’s five part definition of British Values:

Democracy - The rule of law - Individual liberty - Mutual respect and Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.

We believe it is incredibly important that these British Values permeate through every school in the country. At Lawley Primary you will encounter these values throughout our everyday school life and, in particular, through our promotion of Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural understanding and through our school values Happiness, Courage, Respect, Friendship and Responsibility.

The school is set in attractive grounds, which include a large playing field, hard surface playgrounds and pitches and a well managed wildlife area. The outer edges of the field allow Forest School activities to be conducted. The school has fourteen classrooms some with communal practical areas. We also have a demountable classroom onsite that is mainly used for music lessons.

The school has always promoted good links with the wider community and has a very supportive and active Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA). If you have any questions or suggestions, wish to become a committee member or would be able to support with any time at events please get in touch. Contact can be made via their Facebook page @LawleyPTFA.

We would welcome any feedback and any suggestions, or ideas you have; please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. The leadership group will review, and act on, any comments at half-termly meetings.
